About Waiheke Island

It's Time To Enjoy Island Time

Unless you can use a private plane, helicopter, or boat, you have three ferry options for getting to Waiheke Island! Your first option is the Island Direct Ferry, which departs from Auckland and docks at Matiatia Ferry Terminal. Your second option is the Fullers passenger ferry, which also departs from Auckland and arrives at Matiatia Ferry Terminal. Your third option is the SeaLink car ferry, which departs from both the Halfmoon Bay terminal and Hamer Street terminal and arrives at Kennedy Point.

The ferry ride from downtown Auckland to Waiheke takes approximately 40 minutes, providing a scenic start to your adventure.

Waiheke Island is the perfect day out, weekend, or week-long escape. Bring your best friend, luggage, kids, and even the family pet. Dogs are welcome on the Island Direct Ferry and the Fullers Passenger Ferry (on a leash and outside) and the SeaLink Car Ferry (must stay in the car). All three ferries accommodate bicycles, making it easy to bring your own wheels for exploring the island.

Once you arrive at Matiatia Ferry Terminal or Kennedy Point Ferry Terminal, Waiheke Island Taxis will be waiting for you outside, and our driver will be in direct contact with you. If required, the driver will be waiting with a signboard displaying your name. Once you arrive, you can immediately start your island adventure with ease and comfort.
